#1 – Amazon

Amazon Associates Affiliate Program

Amazon is one of the biggest companies on the planet and the #1 hotspot for affiliate marketers. Anyone can be an affiliate marketer for Amazon products. CEO Jeff Bezos is the richest man in the world for more than one reason. Amazon offers a gazillion products, more than any other online retail marketer.

From my experience you can find almost any product in the world on Amazon. There are just so many products in ever category that you can represent as an affiliate marketer. They are made available from a variety of manufacturers & also third part sellers who consistently make available products available that Amazon itself may not offer.

Everyone has heard of Amazon and its reputation for being the #1 online retailer. People feel secure when purchasing from Amazon because they got you covered. And many people such as myself have prime memberships so we are able to get fast and free shipping. As for myself along with millions of other online shoppers, I feel secure shopping on Amazon on a regular basis as opposed to going somewhere else. Repeat buyers is exactly what you’re looking for.

How to Start a Blog and Make Money in 2021An Easy Guide to Start Blogging Today

Anyone can start and blog about anything in the world today.
I will show you how to do this in 4 easy steps.

As a beginner in affiliate marketing, you can make money with Amazon by signing up and promoting products that you choose. It’s fairly easy to sign up and get approved. The only downside is that you must make a sale within 90 days of signing up or they will close your account. This is not likely to happen, but you can easily reapply and you’re back in the Amazon affiliate game.

#2 – Walmart

Walmart Affiliate Program

  • WebSite: Walmart Affiliate Program
  • Commission Rate: From 1% to 18% (The average category pays out 4%)
  • Cookie Duration: 3 Days

Walmart is another one of the top dogs when it comes to physical retail products. Everyone has heard of and shopped at Walmart. For me and millions of others, if you are content with shopping in their stores, then you are good with shopping on their website.

Affiliate marketers are offered “tracking cookies” that are good for 72 hours instead of the typical 24 hours that most other physical goods retailers offer. This is a smart idea because sometimes it may take a consumer more than 24 hours to make a purchasing decision. This gives the affiliate marketer a better chance at making more money.

Like most other programs Walmart pays you monthly on your commissions.

#3 – Target

Target Affiliate Program

Target is the third top brand that is popular with consumers. While it used to be that you could only shop at Target stores, affiliate marketing has now made it possible to get paid commissions from online sales. And everyone has different ways that are their favorites as to how and where they shop. Some like only Amazon, some Walmart, and some Target.

And there are in store and online shoppers who purchase with all three. I like to diversify. I don’t like all my eggs in one basket. And with the Target program the payout structure is based on the fact that the more sales you make, the higher commission you get. Sell something at 5% and once you sell a specific amount of items, your percentage increases to maybe 5 1/2%.

By having your affiliate “eggs” in different baskets, you’ll find that you have a better chance of more sales and currently many programs now offer a flat rate commission. This is a total benefit because once your site is recognized and an authority in your niche, you will earn higher commissions.

In addition, Target offers incentive programs for services like store memberships and store credit cards. Target is a viable choice for promoting affiliate products.

#4 – Clickbank

Clickbank Affiliate Program

  • WebSite:  Signup to Clickbank Here
  • Commission rate: Varies between individual products
  • Cookie Duration: Varies between individual products

Clickbank is a huge marketplace. It’s not like Amazon where actual physical products are involved. Digital products are Clickbank’s forte. They offer many different products in a wide diversity of niches. Many of the specific categories include but are not limited to: weight loss, health and fitness, making money, arts and entertainment, computers and internet, home and garden, self-help, reference, and many more.

Clickbank can be a bit tricky at first if you don’t know what to look for. Not all products are thumbs up when it comes to their track record. So, it’s wise to do your research inside the Clickbank marketplace. You want to check the “gravity” numbers which will tell you if a product is selling and the return percentage. These are the two most important numbers inside Clickbank.

There are some positive points about Clickbank too. I remember when I first applied. I was told and this is true, that it’s fairly easy to get approved. Once this occurs, you can basically sign up for any affiliate program that you want to. Another awesome thing you can do is request review copies of a product, but you have to ask in order to receive.

Obtaining review copies of a product becomes easier once your website is established. This proves to the merchant in Clickbank that you and your website are solid. And the biggest perk with Clickbank is that their commission payouts are much higher that most other affiliate programs. Their rates can go as high as 50% and of course each product and niche are different.

#5 – Ebay

eBay Affiliate Program

I’m sure that most people have heard of eBay. Like Clickbank, eBay is an awesome affiliate program that you can promote thousands of affiliate products in almost any niche you can think of. eBay, like Amazon and Clickbank has been around the block a time or two and a platform that has earned the trust of many purchasers.

Earning revenue with eBay is a bit different from other affiliate platforms. You need to learn how their payout system works first. Unlike other programs, you don’t just get paid a specific commission based on what a certain product costs. How eBay works is that once they receive the revenue from their sellers at the tail end of the particular purchase, then you are compensated at a rate that falls between 50% and 70%.

So what you need to know is that eBay charges a 10% “fee” when a specific auction sells successfully. What you get paid is 50-70% of the fees that is collected by eBay. This is not to confuse that percentage that the particular buyer spends as opposed to the fees collected. So you would receive 5%-7% of the total sale.

#6 – Shareasale

Shareasale Affiliate Program

  • WebSite: ShareASale
  • Commission: Different rate that is based on each individual program
  • Cookie Duration: Different time period that is based on each individual program

ShareASale is an awesome affiliate platform that again offers such a wide array of products and programs that you can promote as an affiliate marketer. Inside ShareASale, you’ll find they have approximately now 3,900 affiliate programs under 40 categories. Some of their more popular and successful brands include The Linux Foundation, Sally Beauty, Jane Affiliates, ZenBusiness, Spanx, Reebok, Proozy, and many others.

Every program lists it’s cookie durations and commission rates so it’s clear what you would earn as a representative for their product.

Getting approved for ShareASale is one thing that isn’t difficult. But one negative about ShareASale is that you must get approved for each individual affiliate program. You can work with an affiliate manager who will guide you in the right direction when it comes to choosing the premier programs and products that will fit you, your business, and future customers.

  1. Thank you for the helpful post on the top seven affiliate program for beginners. I have been approved by the Amazon affiliate program, but as I do not live in the USA, do you think it would be worth my while to also join Walmart and Target? My experience with Amazon is that you need three sales in a 180 day period, rather than the one sale in 90 days that you mention, and then they will look at your website to approve (or disapprove) it.

Although I am a member of Clickbank, I find it a very confusing platform on which to find the right products to promote.

    • Hi there 🙂 You are so welcome. It’s important to known the best affiliate programs to promote when you’re starting out.

I would join every program because it pays to put your eggs in different baskets. Walmart is a great alternate to Amazon because Amazon’s commission rate is poor now. So I would join and promote these 7 programs.

Amazon is easy to join and be accepted but you do have to make a few sales in 90 days but even if they close you down, you can easily reapply and get accepted again.

Clickbank is only digital products but the one positive thing about them is that their commission rates are as high as 50%.

Thanks for sharing! I appreciate it 🙂

  2. This is a very timely post for me because I have been searching for a good post online where I would be able to get the right affiliate program where I would be able to make some good money out of working online. I have been hearing about the Amazon affiliate marketing program and I think it might be one of the best fit me to start with.

    • Hi Jay,

I’m glad the timing is right. So many of us are always looking for the right program to promote and affiliate marketing can be very rewarding when you have the right programs to promote.

If you’re a beginner then these 7 affiliate programs will make it easier for you to get started with affiliate marketing.

You want to have a website to promote these programs with and Wealthy Affiliate can get you started in the right direction.

Amazon is the biggest online marketer but pays the least commission rates so it’s wise to look into these other programs too.

I appreciate your feedback. Thank you 🙂
